Tamil Nadu students protest for Eelam Tamils; Nanjil rush to end the strike

[Audio Interview download] Nanjil Sampath upon his release today rushed to Kovai to call off Tamil Nadu student's hunger strike.

 

Nanjil Sampath, MDMK's propaganda secretary was detained by Tamil Nadu Police on March 14th under the National Security Act (NSA) for making an allegedly inflammatory speech in support of Sri Lankan Tamils. He was released today (Wednesday, April 22) on the order of Chennai High court. He was given a cheering welcome by party stalwarts.

Immediately after his reledyase, he rushed to Kovai where 15 Tamil Nadu students are on hunger strike demanding the central government to pressurize the genocidal Sri Lanka government for an immediate ceasefire and to safeguard the Tamils. The hunger strike started on Sunday, April 19.

He requested them to safe guard their life to fight for Eelam Tamils. He gave fruit juice to the hunger strikers and ended the hunger strike.

Speaking among them he said, "in the history of Tamil nationals, Tamil Eelam has come to a decisive point, at this stage the students have to live to take the Tamil struggle forward."

Nanjil Sampath in an interview to Tamil National said criticized India as the cause for the current situation of the Sri Lankan Tamils.
