[Dravida Peravai] Time for introspection has arrived. India must thwart the geo-political games of China-Srilanka axis, by supporting Tamil Eelam and acting in tandem with USA and western democracies, opines N.Nandhivarman, General Secretary of Dravida Peravai, in a press statement Sunday.
Tamils wherever they live have for first time in history have come out strongly condemning the Genocide unleashed by Srilankan government, and many martyrs have sacrificed their lives, yet there seems to be reluctance to support Tamil Eelam demand, and what is the reason behind this attitude of western democracies ? Let us ponder in public view.
Western democracies only pay lip service to democracy, which will be evident in numerous cases where they have backed military dictatorship and monarchies in Arab world. Every country that preaches democracy and practices democracy, when it comes to upholding their self interest sacrifices the principles to safeguard their countries interest. Take the case of Mynmar, where a democratically elected leader is under confinement for 13 years and 188 days. All these years the western democracies did nothing to restore democracy in Mynmar. They were satisfied with Noble prize to Ms.Aung San Sui Kyi, and if members of Security Council in United Nations could do nothing to redeem Myanmar from a military dictatorship, it shows the failure of the institution of United Nations. West cannot act in Myanmar because China will veto their moves in Security Council. All efforts will end in stalemate.
It must be told here that China which has no access to Indian Union exploits the vulnerability of the military dictatorship of Myanmar and gains many harbours facing Bay of Bengal in its kitty for build operate transfer contracts, which also paves way for Chinese war ships to be in Bay of Bengal, watching India and waiting for a ripe movement. West like ostrich buries its head with regard to military dictatorship of Myanmar, also turned a blind eye towards the civilian dictatorship of Mahinda Rajapakshe of Srilanka, till they were awakened by Tamils protests in their own countries. Yet their jaundiced vision makes them see Tamils as terrorists.
Terrorism is the theme of this century; but does it mean national liberation or humanitarian laws should be discarded to the dustbins?
All freedom struggles in past history were dubbed as terrorism by respective countries. Taliban is for imposing a particular religion on all, and by that yardstick even Sinhalese Government can be named as Sinhalaban, since they want their religion, culture and language thrust on Eelam Tamils.
America views whole world with terrorism yardstick. They are so obsessed with terrorism, naturally because of Taliban attacks. America fails to differentiate between freedom movements and terrorist organizations.
The American Governments “Country Reports on Terrorism 2008” of April 30, 2009 states that,
“India ranked among the world’s most terrorism-afflicted countries. It was the focus of numerous attacks from both externally-based terrorist organizations and internally-based separatist or terrorist entities. Several attacks inflicted large numbers of casualties, including the most devastating attack of the year on November 26 in Mumbai. Although clearly committed to combating violent extremism, the Indian government's counterterrorism efforts remained hampered by its outdated and overburdened law enforcement and legal systems. In the wake of the Mumbai terrorist attacks, India’s Parliament has introduced bills to restructure its counterterrorism laws and has proposed a new agency, the National Investigative Agency, to create national-level capability to investigate and potentially prosecute acts of terrorism. Since the Mumbai attacks, India has also greatly increased counterterrorism cooperation with the United States.”
This report clearly portrays that India is under the protective shield of America; hence America does not opt for a direct approach to Tamils issue in Srilanka but toes the Indian line. This creates adverse effects for Tamil Eelam Tamils. In its selfish national goal to eliminate Taliban which thrives in Pakistan and closer to get access to nuclear button, America needs India’s help to combat Taliban, hence America hesitates to pinpoint the mistakes India makes in its policy towards Tamil Eelam.
The Report states “In Sri Lanka, the government continued its military campaign against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization. Both sides continued to engage in “any means necessary” tactics to fight the war. The LTTE used suicide bombings and other terrorist attacks, some of which caused serious civilian casualties. The government has been criticized for using paramilitary organizations that rely on abduction, extra-judicial killings and other illegal tactics to combat the LTTE and their suspected sympathizers. At the end of the year, the military recaptured most of the LTTE-held territory, including Killinochchi, but the LTTE continued to fight, reverting to more asymmetrical tactics, including the continued use of suicide bombers in the capital Colombo.
The tag of terrorist organization is like crucifying a freedom movement. Nelson Mandela was termed as terrorist, and almost all freedom fighters including India’s Nethaji were branded as terrorist at one point of time, till world revised its view to endorse their struggle. It is a global phenomenon, but to brand the freedom fighters of Tamil Eelam is a grave mistake since they are fighting to protect their kinsmen from genocide.
World democracies fail to probe the mysterious murders of the of Sinhalese politicians and media men, and the brutal murder of Parliament Members like Joseph Pararajasingam and mysterious disappearances caused by white van abductions. If state sponsors such acts, does it mean, world will wait with clean chit. Srilanka is the only country that prevents independent media and UN agencies access to the theatre of war, which itself beyond an iota of doubt will prove that war crimes of gigantic proportions have taken place throwing into wind all international norms and conventions .State terrorism against civilians is more brutal than stray incidents of terrorism in a long drawn freedom struggle.
It is becoming evident that certain countries in UN Security Council are blocking all attempts to admonish Srilanka using their veto arsenal, apart from feeding the war machine of Srilanka with chemical weapons banned in civilized world. China in its game-plan to have total control of Indian Ocean sea-lanes had entrenched itself in Hampantotta of Southern tip of Srilanka, hence it dances to the tunes of Srilankan war mongers.
But the irony is blinded by hatred and personal revenge certain leaders of India, for few years, completely ignored China’s encirclement of India with gaining spree of harbours in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Maldives, and in Pakistan close to India’s Gujarat’s coast.
They and few extra-constitutional authorities who erode the powers of the Cabinet under Indian constitution were helping same Srilanka, which was receiving Chinese help. These men and women sitting in their ivory towers for a moment forgot Chinese claims over Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh. No patriotic Indian will remain blind to moves made by China, and no one with brains will put all their eggs in the same basket, where Chinese have loaded in full.
India must realize first its folly and make amends. India must remind United Nations that only in this century United Nations adopted the right precedent in East Timor, and why they are reluctant to adopt same policy towards Tamil Eelam. Tamil Eelam, as friendly state of India will check mate China. If USA needs Trincomalae harbour the future Government of Tamil Eelam will give it on lease to USA to protect the sea lanes of Indian Ocean. Instead of Tiger phobia, India and USA and European Union must awake towards Chinese designs to encircle India. With its burgeoning population China needs more space, while world was in slumber it had constructed harbours and laid roads through Myanmar thereby creating land route to Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal, which is a clear cut conspiracy hatched with foresight.
India by being blind to China factor and abandoning the policy of Indira Gandhi to support Tamil Eelam, had allowed tiny island of Srilanka to play divide and rule between India and China thereby conceding foothold for China near South Tamilnadu inviting the non existent security threat to its Southern coast.
Times on line reports that;
“On the southern coast of Sri Lanka, ten miles from one of the world’s busiest shipping routes, a vast construction site is engulfing the once sleepy fishing town of Hambantota. This poor community of 21,000 people is about as far as one can get on the island from the fighting between the army and the Tamil Tiger rebels on the northeastern coast. The sudden spurt of construction helps, however, to explain why the army is poised to defeat the Tigers and why Western governments are so powerless to negotiate a ceasefire to help civilians trapped on the front line.
This is where China is building a $1 billion port that it plans to use as a refueling and docking station for its navy, as it patrols the Indian Ocean and protects China’s supplies of Saudi oil. Ever since Sri Lanka agreed to the plan, in March 2007, China has given it all the aid, arms and diplomatic support it needs to defeat the Tigers, without worrying about the West. Even India, Sri Lanka’s long-time ally and the traditionally dominant power in South Asia, has found itself sidelined in the past two years — to its obvious irritation. “China is fishing in troubled waters,” Palaniappan Chidambaram, India’s Home Minister, warned last week. The Chinese say that Hambantota is a purely commercial venture, but many US and Indian military planners regard it as part of a “string of pearls” strategy under which China is also building or upgrading ports at Gwadar in Pakistan, Chittagong in Bangladesh and Sittwe in Burma. The strategy was outlined in a paper by Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher J. Pehrson, of the Pentagon’s Air Staff, in 2006, and again in a report by the US Joint Forces Command in November. “For China, Hambantota is a commercial venture, but it’s also an asset for future use in a very strategic location,” Major-General (Retd) Dipankar Banerjee of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies in Delhi said. The British Navy used the Sri Lankan port of Trincomalee as its main regional base until 1957 and still shares a naval base with the US on the nearby island of Diego Garcia. China has no immediate plans for a fully fledged naval base but wants a similar foothold in the Indian Ocean to protect its oil supplies from piracy or blockade by a foreign power, analysts say.Beijing sent three ships on an unprecedented anti-piracy mission to the Gulf of Aden in December, and in January a Chinese defence White Paper said that the navy was “developing capabilities of conducting co-operation in distant waters . . .”China has cultivated ties with Sri Lanka for decades and became its biggest arms supplier in the 1990s, when India and Western governments refused to sell weapons to Colombo for use in the civil war. Beijing appears to have increased arms sales significantly to Sri Lanka since 2007, when the US suspended military aid over human rights issues. Many of the arms have been bought through Lanka Logistics & Technologies, co-headed by Gotabhaya Rajapksa, the Defence Secretary, who is also the President’s brother. In April 2007 Sri Lanka signed a classified $37.6 million (£25 million) deal to buy Chinese ammunition and ordnance for its army and navy, according to Jane’s Defence Weekly.China gave Sri Lanka — apparently free of charge — six F7 jet fighters last year, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, after a daring raid by the Tigers’ air wing destroyed ten military aircraft in 2007. One of the Chinese fighters shot down one of the Tigers’ aircraft a year later.“China’s arms sales have been the decisive factor in ending the military stalemate,” Brahma Chellaney, of the Centre for Policy Research in Delhi, said. “There seems to have been a deal linked to Hambantota.”Since 2007 China has encouraged Pakistan to sell weapons to Sri Lanka and to train Sri Lankan pilots to fly the Chinese fighters, according to Indian security sources.China has also provided crucial diplomatic support in the UN Security Council, blocking efforts to put Sri Lanka on the agenda. It has also boosted financial aid to Sri Lanka, even as Western countries have reduced their contributions.China’s aid to Sri Lanka jumped from a few million dollars in 2005 to almost $1 billion last year, replacing Japan as the biggest foreign donor. By comparison, the United States gave $7.4 million last year and Britain just £1.25 million.“That’s why Sri Lanka has been so dismissive of international criticism,” said B. Raman of the Chennai Centre for China Studies. “It knows it can rely on support from China.”

Chinese threat to India: Time for USA and India to support Tamil Eelam
West has the solution, but hesitates
Recignise the LTTE immediately as Freedon Fighters and lift the ban,
Remove the ban on all their resources and voice strong support for a Free TamilEelam state.
Demad (stupid) India to stop supporting genocidal SLG and safe itself from the encircling dragon.
THAT WILL STOP THE WAR RIGHT ON ITS TRACK.
