[3rd Update] A fierce battle erupts: SLA on multipronged attack; 160,000 people’s life at risk; All international diplomatic efforts failed: SL on genocidal act; Less regards for civilian lives; Dozens killed within hours.

Sri Lankan Army while on a multipronged attack from early morning today on the remaining patch of land in the safe zone area, tried to land through seafront in Mullivaikkal area and move forward in to safe zone.

Heavy gunfire coupled with cannon fire from sea and aerial bombing reported from Mullivaikkal where an estimated 160,000 civilians are held up.

The battle erupted at the early hours of today when Sri Lankan Army tried to move forward towards Iraddaivaikkal under the cover of heavy shelling and air attacks.

The LTTE also retaliating fiercely, the fighting is going on in both ground and sea. Sri Lankan Navy ships are firing cannon missiles towards the shore, while large number of fishing boats and ships are seen in the mid sea carrying troops.

The Sri Lankan Forces are continuously shelling on Mullivaikkal seafront to reduce the resistance and then to land the troops that are waiting in the mid sea.

Sri Lankan Air Force and ground troops are also engaged in the firing in support of the Sri Lankan Navy. Sri Lankan air force carried out 14 sorties within one and half hours (9.00am to 10.20 am)

The fierce battle may be one of the worst in recent times and expected to take tens of thousands of lives. People inside safe zone were sending SOS from yesterday night saying that the Sri Lankan Forces have encircled the safe zone and are engaged on a massive preparation for an onslaught and called international community to intervene and save the people.

While the attack on the seafront continues, ground troops are trying to breach a bund at Vadduvaikkal area and using all heavy weapons in the offensive. In the third front, Sri Lankan Army is trying to move forward through Iraddaivaikkal from early morning today.

People captured in earlier attacks are being used as human shields to move forward.

Earlier too there were reports of using the captured people as human shields during the attack on valaignarmadam and Pokkanai.

Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) was sending a SOS from last night to UN Security Council members and to international community.

In their urgent appeal they said "as we write this appeal there is a build up of Sri Lanka Armed Forces in the areas surrounding the so-called ‘safe zone’ and an offensive via land, sea, and air is only a few hours away."

They further said that was their final appeal to the international community to stop the slaughter of Tamil civilians in the so-called ‘safe zone’. They made the appeal on behalf of the 160,000 people still in the safe zone.

On Sunday 26 April, the Sri Lanka Air Force bombed the Valiaganmadam village, the only village with sea access, 39 times and on Saturday 25 April there were at least 25 attacks which killed and injured hundreds.

Based on their previous experiences over the past three months TRO officials in the ‘safe zone’ have predicted that if the expected offensive goes forward there will be more than 10,000 casualties as the area is densely populated and there is no cover from bombs, shells, and bullets.

The leaders outside Sri Lanka must act NOW to pressure Rajapakse to stop this madness!! It is absolutely useless to sit back and waste precious time offering politically correct statements about how "concerned" they are about the carnage in SL. Regardless of how they view the LTTE, since the latter has agreed to a ceasefire, the power-hungry SL government has to do the same. Enough lip service nonsense from the gov't about "saving the civilians" from LTTE clutches.

Rajapakse's government is nothing but a ruthless regime aimed at acheiving their own agenda of ethnically cleansing the country of a Tamil race that has the right to live on their ancestors' land just as much as the Sinhalese. The ban on the media and on humanitarian aid is proof that a repeat of Rwanda is in the making.

Act NOW, world leaders!!! Act NOW, Tamil diaspora!! Open your mouths! Use your words! Share your voice! We cannot simply watch now and regret later.

Genocide

This is a preplanned genocidal war without witness aimed at ethnic cleansing. We plead to the IC to act now before the genocide is complete. The IC should see for itself before believing the GOSL. GOSL has a track record of lying and accusing anybody supporting the LTTE and the IC is well aware of this.

Mahinda has the blessings from the super powers to Genocide against Tamils.

6500 innocent civilians killed and another 14,000 badly wounded inside the so called saftey zone since this January. Tamils inside this area had no food, medicines, shelter and cover from indiscreminate shelling and aerial bombardment. But no one could do anything to stop this carnage, including UN and its powerfull members. All waiting for a total annihilation of Tamils in the name of war on terror. The terror regime of mahinda brothers got the blessings from all these super powers to wipe out tamils. Or in other words, India keeping all these super powers at bay till its partner in Genocide finish the job in Northeastern Srilanka. Piles and piles of dead people, headless children, bleeding elders.....its a slaughter house inside safety zone. In the name of killing tigers the sinhala chauvanism carrying out its life long dream, Tamil ethnic cleansing in Srilanka. Everyone around watching when tamils get buthered by India and Srilanka. No one has the guts to stand up and say "NO" to this war mongers. Nowadays, the numbers have exceeded thousands. But no one cares. All cried about Gaza, Sudan, Bosnia, Cosovo.....but, no one wants to know about us. Is it alright to be killed and maimed in thousands for just being a tamil? Is that allright our children to die from continuos shelling and hunger? Is it all right to use chemical and internationally banned weapons against helpless Tamils? Is it bad to cry for freedom?
A ruthless regime is almost at the edge of wiping out a race from the face of the earth, and no one is bothered?! Aren't we human beings? Who gave the licence for this slaughter? Who gave banned weapons? Who trained this barbarians to use chemical weapons? All for just one man's death? How many more tamil lives you want India? How many liters of blood you need? How many childrens heads you want? Haven't you had enough?

Reamember, you may kill the last tamil from our beloved motherland. But, we are everywhere, you will pay for this!!!!!!!!!!

UN PLEASE DO SOMETHING

It's enough that many have perished and the blood of innocents have been shed. STOP acting to do something by just talking and giving statements. lip service won't save innocent lifes. Those who are in powers and are not doing anything to stop the war will have to answer for the lifes lost. You people also have family. think what will you do when something cruel happens to your family members. you wont sit and watch like you do now but will put more effort to save them. Think as true human and not about formalities to go through to save people in the verge of death.

Rajapakse's and his brother will be curse by the civilian Tamil. They will eventually be brutally killed by their own Sinhalese people for the injustice they have directed the order to killed many innocent unarm Tamil civilian. I believe in one thing, if you do good, good thing will certainly befall you,if you do harm, bad thing will certainly strike you. This is the nature of God law, There is no escape from this route.
They may think that they are going to win the war. In actual fact nobody win at all. They will pay the price for what they have done.
On this coming Mother Day, all the Tamil mothers whose child are killed, whose husband are killed, and who have lost their families will curse Rajapakse's and his brother.
