Parameswaran who was on a hunger strike in London in front of parliament building ends his hunger strike after 24 days.
Parameswaran called off his hunger strike Thursday on certain assurances given by British Government.Parameswaran in an interview to Tamil media said he ended his fast on assurances given by British Government but said, due to some obligations he cannot reveal everything openly.
He said he has the responsibility to clarify certain things. He said by continuing his hunger strike he did not want to lose some valuable opportunities. He was assured 2, 3 important opportunities if he drop his hunger strike.
He said “I was assured two three high level meetings to address our issues in return for dropping my hunger strike."We have to harvest the opportunities when it comes our way, else we cannot achieve what we desire; sometimes we have to be patient to achieve our demands.Soon I will able to tell what made me to call off my hunger strike that is my utmost responsibility. Now I declare to end my hunger strike, he said.
While he was speaking to the media, a medical team arrived to take him to hospital.The Tamil student community said, though hunger strike came to an end they will continue with their agitation campaign in front of the parliament building.

Please come forward and lead the next phase of our struggle. Portugal helped its one time Colony, the East Timor to live with dignity independently. But Britain has betrayed us all along.

I am so glad to hear this news. International community is playing double standard for long time. Parameswaran is valuable if he lives. I am sure he and his collegeaus in London will take our Tamil Eelam cause to anywhere to achieve it. Thank you Parameswaran for showing your courage, braveness to other Tamil people, spcifically youngsters. We all Tamil people should continue to do our part to achieve Peace and Freedom to the people in Eelam.

very very glad, we don't want to loose our people again and again, but the sad story behind this was why the British goverment took 24 days to address his hunger strike. Is it because he is Tamil???

Sacrificial and Successful
Parameswaran's fast was sacrificial to the highest degree. His steadfastness to the goals of the campaign and rallying the UK and world Tamils to the cause is unprecedented, the results of which will last for generations. The rational conclusion to the fast despite being precariously close to death shows his political maturity as a great leader for world Tamils. He is not just a purified gold tested by fire ( புடமிட்ட தங்கம்), but he purified us all too. The British Government has given him some assurances. While hoping that they will live by those, let us all resolve to meet our end of the bargain - our promises to Parameswaran to keep the struggle going until we bring peace and justice to the Eelam Tamils.

Very relieved you are alive brother!
As each day passed we became more worried for you. I was amazed by your courage and determination to continue. I was praying you would come through and live. I was so scared you might not. Thank God you are here! It is much better you are alive than to die! Dead men cannot speak! You can do soo much more alive, you can educate everyone and you are an inspiration for your courage to never give up your aims. You have been through so much, and lived to tell the tale.
